Operating memory lumia 625. Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless data transfer between various devices of different types over short distances

A big screen doesn't have to break the bank. Nokia Lumia 625 is a fresh Finnish smartphone with a record display diagonal. While other manufacturers fill big guys with advanced hardware and set an immodest price, Nokia decided to make an affordable “phablet”. Inexpensive, but high quality.

Scope of delivery

Lumia 625 will arrive in the hands of buyers in a blue box, the same as other Nokia smartphones. Rough cardboard will please the “green” people with the opportunity to send it for recycling, but will not evoke emotions among buyers who are indifferent to the environment. The box is just a box, nothing interesting. Under the tail for pulling out the insides of the box, the cardboard is painted in the color of the device body.

The set of little things accompanying the smartphone is similar to the Lumia 520: a tray with a phone, some waste paper, a very cheap stereo headset, charger and a Micro-USB cable for connecting to a computer. Once again, there is reason to be surprised: why do Nokia prefer to share the cable and charging for budget employees, rather than supply a collapsible plug with a lead, as in older devices?

Design and ergonomics

In Russia, Lumia 625 is sold in black, white and orange. I got the last one for review. Carrot, fiery red, pale red, international orange, if you like, but definitely not the color of a well-ripened orange. Red color scheme The tiles suit him about the same as the orange one.

The size of the smartphone is significantly larger than the Lumia 620. At first glance, you can’t tell that the model numbers differ by only a five. Despite the huge diagonal by the standards of Windows Phone smartphones, it fits comfortably in the hand due to its small thickness, rounded edges and narrow frames around the display. The smartphone also scores positive points for the power button on the right side - you don’t have to dream about one of your fingers remembering the carrot you once ate and adding a couple of centimeters in length.

The case seems monolithic, it is so well assembled, but the absence of a SIM card tray treacherously reveals the presence of a removable panel, and as a consequence the need to remove it. A very non-trivial procedure, which I will not soon get used to, no matter how long it takes Nokia smartphones haven't tried it. Unlike the Lumia 620, in which to pick out the socket you need to pull the top part and rest against the camera module, the 625 model forces you to act without any stop, tearing off the socket from the bottom. Well, at least the Finns use durable plastic - not once did the process of removing the lid end with an illustration of the method of cell division from a school biology course.

When disassembled, the smartphone will demonstrate an unusual combined tray for a SIM card and memory card with the ability to be hot-swappable and suddenly non-removable battery. The battery is bolted down and will not allow you to replace it with a charged clone on the fly.

The volume, screen off and camera buttons are located on the right side of the smartphone, the headphone and cable ports are located on the smaller sides. The left side is empty. If the Lumia 625 had a monolithic body, it could have card trays.

On the back there is a speaker hole, a barely visible Nokia logo and a camera with flash.

Screen

The record 4.7 inches for the Lumia line can only be captured with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, which in terms of density gives a modest 200 pixels per inch. Grain is noticeable, but the minimalistic operating system hides this imperfection well. Moreover, a high-quality IPS matrix with natural colors and wide viewing angles leaves a pleasant impression. Anticipating my acquaintance with the smartphone, I expected to see a poor screen, stylizing the picture as eight-bit graphics, but when compared with the densely packed pixels of the Lumia 620, the difference turned out to be not critical. A more significant drawback of the screen is the lack of a ClearBlack polarizing layer. In the rare autumn sunshine, the screen glows joyfully, as if reminding the owner to take a break and pay attention to the good weather. It’s good that they didn’t sacrifice the proprietary super-sensitive sensor. Girls will appreciate that the Lumia 625 perfectly understands pressing with fingernails, and the sexless joy of operating a smartphone with gloves and even mittens.

Sound

The musical capabilities of the Lumia 625 will not disappoint, except that you should throw away the included headphones and take out your favorite ones. The speaker volume also did not disappoint, provided that the owner of the smartphone does not play hard rock on the call and turn the volume up to maximum.

The only problem that is common to almost all smartphones from the Lumia line is that the small hole on the list is easy to cover with something, nullifying the efforts of the speaker. In such a situation, tangible vibration will come to the rescue.

Camera

The camera in Nokia Lumia 625 is budget, only 5 MP. Most likely the module used is the same as in the Lumia 620, but due to best processor and updated shooting algorithms, photos are a little higher quality, and videos can be recorded in Full HD format. However, the camera shows acceptable results only in good shooting conditions. The cloudier it is outside, the worse the footage. It's best to avoid taking photos with flash or artificial lighting.

Productivity and Communications

Lumia 625 works quickly, without delays and brakes, like any other smartphone under Windows control Phone 8. It won't disappoint in terms of performance, but considering its budget, it only has 512 MB installed. RAM. This will not affect everyday use, but not all applications will be available to the buyer. About 1% of the software in the store is intended only for devices with a gigabyte of RAM.

For those who like to count cores and gigahertz, the new processor is worth noting. The Lumia 625 has a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8930 with a frequency of 1.2 GHz. Despite the budget Adreno 305 accelerator, the smartphone should be a little faster than the 520, 620 and 720 models with the MSM8227 chip.

Lumia 925. The main omissions are the absence of a clock on the off screen, the absence of a smartphone wake-up by double tapping on the screen, and a black list for calls and SMS. Even the Lumia 620 got these features except double-tap to turn on the screen! The Amber Lumia 625 comes with adjustable screen color profile, a new Smart Camera photo app, FM radio and a traffic control app.

Otherwise, the Lumia 625 has everything that Finnish devices are famous for: a decent set of applications out of the box, a package for working with documents, spreadsheets and presentations, One Note and proprietary Nokia software, for example, the music service Mix Radio and one of the best navigation applications Here.

Price and competitors

The official price is 11,990 rubles. Nokia's competitors, as always, are its own smartphones, because the Finnish company owns more than 80% of the Windows Phone device market. For comparable money you can buy a more compact Lumia or with a better camera. A larger gap in price will result in the purchase of an ultra-budget or much more technologically advanced model.

Snapdragon 625, or rather smartphones that contain this processor, gained particular popularity in 2017. This is largely due to the chipset. Snapdragon 625 is an 8-core affordable solution, which successfully combines decent performance and good energy efficiency. It handles most of the most demanding games without problems, and doesn’t drain the battery like crazy.

The chipset is built using a 14nm technological process, all 8 Cortex A53 cores are represented by one cluster, the clock frequency is dynamic, and can reach 2 GHz at its peak. The Adreno 506 chip is responsible for the graphics capabilities, which puts the Snapdragon 625 in an even more advantageous position when comparing it with analogues from the same MediaTek.

In general, the Snapdragon 625 processor is still a strong representative of the middle class, and is clearly not going to disappear from the market yet. Its equipment will be quite sufficient next year, so today we would like to tell you about the most interesting smartphones that are equipped with Snapdragon 625.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X

Most cheap smartphone on Snapdragon 625. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X was introduced at the beginning of this year, quickly becoming one of the best-selling solutions on the market. The same accessibility captivates users. At the same time, the smartphone has good equipment for its price. The efficient Snapdragon 625 is combined with 3 or 4 GB of RAM, which ensures good multitasking and gaming performance, while the 4100 mAh battery guarantees excellent battery life. At the user's choice, the Redmi Note 4X is available for sale with a 32 or 64 GB drive.

The front panel is decorated with a classic 5.5-inch IPS display with FullHD resolution; the smartphone itself is made in a metal case. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X has only one 13-megapixel main camera with phase detection autofocus, as well as a single front module for selfies. The smartphone supports work in LTE networks, received a regular microUSB port, and the proprietary MIUI shell is used as an add-on for the operating system.

Huawei Nova | Nova Plus

A pair of stylish smartphones from another popular Chinese company, which were announced about a year ago. They were one of the first to receive an 8-core Snapdragon 625 as a processor. Huawei Nova is equipped with a 5-inch FullHD screen, so it boasts relatively compact dimensions, but the frames around the screen are quite wide, which is noticeable after that heap of “” that went beyond last year. The older model received a more impressive diagonal - 5.5 inches, the resolution remained the same. The smartphone cases are made of metal; there are two versions of Huawei Nova on sale: 3+32 GB and 4+64 GB.

Main camera junior model 12 megapixels, there is phase autofocus, the front is represented by an 8 megapixel sensor. The older Plus solution received a more advanced 16 MP main sensor from Sony, and the same 8 MP one is used as the front one. Huawei Nova is equipped with a 3020 mAh battery, while the Plus has a battery capacity of 3340 mAh. Both smartphones received a fingerprint scanner, which is placed on the back. The manufacturer launched the smartphone with Android 6.0 “on board”, on top of which the proprietary EMUI shell is used. Despite their considerable age, Huawei Nova and Nova Plus remain relevant thanks to the Snapdragon 625, which provides them with about 60,000 “parrots” in the AnTuTu benchmark.

One of the most successful Meizu smartphones who has been. For the first time in a long period of time, a well-known company from the Celestial Empire equipped its smartphone with a processor from Qualcomm, and at once such popular model. Snapdragon 625 paired with 3 or 4 GB of RAM (depending on the version) ensures fast interface operation, as well as the ability to run the vast majority of games. The permanent memory of a smartphone can be 32 or 64 GB. The performance hasn't skimped on the battery capacity either - 4000 mAh feels great in the same case with an efficient chipset.

This is also one of the first Meizu smartphones with a dual main camera. The company installed a 12-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and an additional 5-megapixel sensor in the Meizu M6 Note. In good lighting, your smartphone camera takes great photos. The front 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture is also good. The screen of the Meizu M6 Note is standard for the modern smartphone market - 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Naturally, the device supports 4G networks, and the operating system is Android Nougat and the proprietary Flyme shell. The main material of the body was metal.

Xiaomi Mi A1 | Xiaomi Mi 5X

Essentially the same smartphone. They differ only in names and operating systems. Xiaomi Mi A1 is the company's first smartphone that runs on “pure” Android, while Mi 5X received a recognizable MIUI shell. Very interesting smartphones, which visited us for reviews ( | ), one of the features of which, as you already guessed, is the Snapdragon 625 processor. The design of the smartphones is copied from the iPhone 7 Plus - the same metal case, similar placement of strips for antennas, identical arrangement of the dual main camera.

Like the above smartphones powered by Snapdragon 625, the Xiaomi Mi A1 | Xiaomi Mi 5X screen has a diagonal of 5.5 inches with FullHD resolution. Like most of its 2017 counterparts, smartphones have 3 or 4 GB of RAM, 32 or 64 GB of storage. Like other trending solutions of the outgoing year, Mi A1 and its twin brother have a good 12+12 MP dual camera, which is capable of really high quality photos. The front camera of smartphones is the classic 5 MP. The battery is not the highest capacity (3080 mAh), but let’s not forget about the 14nm Snapdragon 625, which provides good battery life.

In many ways it is very reminiscent of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, and in some aspects it even surpasses it. Until recently, it was somehow not popular with buyers, but they began to notice it closer to the fall of 2017 - apparently, the decrease in cost had an effect. Externally, it really looks like the analogue from Xiaomi, but it has a physical “Home” button on the front, and it also has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The same 5.5-inch IPS screen with FullHD resolution is installed.

Like all models in our rating today, Lenovo Vibe P2 is based on the hardware of Snapdragon 625 and 4 GB of RAM, the drive is available in two versions - 32 or 64 GB. The smartphone received one main camera, which is represented by a 13-megapixel sensor from Sony, as well as a single 5-megapixel front camera. The Vibe P2 shoots no worse than its key competitors. One of the advantages is a huge 5100 mAh battery - more than that of the Redmi Note 4X. In addition, the model received an interface that allows you to make contactless payments. As you can see, Lenovo Vibe P2 is a very successful solution that definitely deserves a place in the ranking of smartphones powered by Snapdragon 625.

And again Xiaomi. The Chinese company is particularly fond of the Snapdragon 625. And for good reason – smartphones based on this chipset are selling especially well, according to a number of online stores. Mi Max 2 is a continuation in the line of huge smartphones, which are commonly called phablets. The screen diagonal of Mi Max 2 reaches 6.44 inches, making it one of the largest on the market. At the same time, the model is quite elegant, has a thin metal body and good ergonomics.

The huge display has FullHD resolution, which is enough for high-quality images. The screen is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass 4. Since it was included in the rating best smartphones with Snapdragon 625, it is logical that it has this particular processor. There is only one variation of RAM – 4 GB. There is a choice of 32, 64 or 128 GB of permanent memory. There is only one main camera, but a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 is used, which guarantees good pictures; the front one of the Mi Max 2 is 5 MP. Another advantage of the smartphone is its autonomy. A huge 5300 mAh battery can provide a couple of days battery life, if you use Xiaomi Mi Max 2 in moderate mode.

ZTE has seriously expanded its line of smartphones in recent years, becoming a fairly prominent company in the Chinese market. There are also a couple of solutions in its arsenal with a Snapdragon 625 processor. Nubia M2 is one of the most affordable among them, offering decent characteristics. The smartphone has a design that is recognizable to the company and boasts a 5.5-inch display made using AMOLED technology. The “stuffing”, in addition to the Snapdragon 625 processor, is represented by 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of permanent memory.

Nubia M2 is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera, so it should appeal to selfie lovers; the back side is decorated with a dual camera with a 13-megapixel module from Sony. The smartphone does not have the most capacious 3630 mAh battery, but the situation is partially saved by the energy-efficient Snapdragon 625 processor and AMOLED screen, which are characterized by low power consumption. In addition, Nubia M2 supports fast charging technology.

This company is unfamiliar to most users, as it works primarily for the mobile market of the Middle Kingdom. Smartisan Pro is a stylish mid-range smartphone. Externally, the model really stands out from its current analogues; the smartphone looks especially impressive in red. I received a Smartisan Pro IPS panel of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, which is covered protective glass from Corning.

The Snapdragon 625 processor is powered by 4 GB of RAM. The manufacturer offers the smartphone in three configurations of permanent memory: 32, 64 or 128 GB. There is a dual main camera, represented by a pair of 13-megapixel sensors, and on the front there is an 8-megapixel selfie sensor. The Smartisan Pro has a 3500 mAh battery and claims to support fast charging technology. Even though the model is little-known, it deservedly made it into the ranking of the best smartphones powered by Snapdragon 625.

Asus ZenFone 3 ZE520KL

Asus, of course, has a hard time competing with more famous brands in the mobile market, but the company regularly still produces decent smartphones. Asus ZenFone 3 The ZE520KL is positioned in the mid-price segment, offering the chic design for which this line of the manufacturer is famous. The smartphone is equipped with a 5.2-inch FullHD screen protected by glass with a 2.5D effect. Snapdragon 625 is complemented by 3 or 4 GB of RAM, and the storage capacity is 32 or 64 GB, expandable.

Fans of mobile photography will be pleased with the 16-megapixel main camera from Sony with laser focusing; the 8-megapixel sensor on the front will not allow you to take good selfies. But the battery capacity is disappointing - only 2650 mAh. Despite the fact that the Snapdragon 625 stands out for its energy efficiency, this will not be enough for many users for long battery life.

A year ago, ZTE launched an enlarged version of its flagship, which received a not top-end, but quite powerful and efficient Snapdragon 625 processor. Distinctive feature The smartphone has a 6-inch screen with FullHD resolution, which is enclosed in a metal case. Another advantage of the ZTE Axon 7 Max is the dual main camera of 13+13 MP, the sensors are provided by Sony. 13 MP front selfie module.

The 8-core chipset from Qualcomm is paired with 4 GB of RAM, internal storage is designed for 64 GB, and it is possible to expand the storage capacity by another 256 GB using an mciroSD card. ZTE Axon 7 Max is equipped with an impressive 4100 mAh battery and supports fast charging. An undoubted advantage of the smartphone is the presence of an NFC interface.

BlackBerry KEYone

A very unusual smartphone for today’s market from a once famous company. A distinctive feature of the BlackBerry KEYone is a full-fledged physical QWERTY keyboard, which occupies part of the front side. Because of this, the screen of the smartphone has a diagonal of 4.5 inches with an aspect ratio of 3:2. "Iron" looks modern. Here we have an 8-core Snapdragon 625 processor, and 3 or all 4 GB of RAM, and 32 or 64 GB of built-in storage is offered for user files.

Even in terms of photo capabilities, the BlackBerry KEYone did not disappoint. The main camera is a 12-megapixel sensor from Sony, and for selfie fans we have an 8-megapixel front sensor. Thanks to the small screen and 14nm processor, the 3505 mAh battery will last for a decent amount of time. A nice bonus is fast charging and an interface for contactless payments.

A strong mid-ranger with the makings of a flagship from Moto, which is now a sub-brand of Lenovo. Stylish smartphone With good cameras, which may be of interest to everyone who is tired of monotonous models. The Moto Z Play's body is made of aluminum alloy and glass, and on the front side there is a distinctive physical Home button, which has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, covered with scratch-resistant glass, pleases with a pleasant and clear picture.

RAM 3 GB, you can choose the amount of permanent memory yourself - 32 or 64 GB. Naturally, it is based on the Snapdragon 625 chipset. The main camera is represented by a single 16-megapixel sensor from Omnivision, and there is touch focusing. The front 5-megapixel camera is complemented by an LED flash. Moto Z Play received NFC and a 3510 mAh battery. Perhaps it is one of the most expensive smartphones on Snapdragon 625.

Throughout the next year, smartphones powered by Snapdragon 625 will remain relevant in terms of performance. Another thing is that most of them are presented in a classic design with 16:9 screens, while the market is being captured by full-screen solutions. The situation, apparently, will be corrected again by Xiaomi, launching affordable full-screen smartphones at the end of 2017 - beginning of 2018. In the future, the Snapdragon 625 will likely be replaced by the Snapdragon 660.

At the beginning of winter 2016, Qualcomm announced a processor that became a hit and was warmly received by both smartphone manufacturers and ordinary consumers. No, today we will not talk about the Snapdragon 820 - a top-end solution for flagships, but the mid-price mobile platform Snapdragon 625. This chip, despite the low model number in the line, is very attractive for many reasons. Firstly, it is built using a modern and energy-efficient 14-nanometer process technology. Secondly, this is an eight-core solution with Cortex-A53 cores, which, thanks to the maximum clock frequency up to 2 GHz allow smartphones to work quickly, while carefully consuming battery power. It cannot be said that the chip turned out to be a replacement for the more productive, but already outdated Snapdragon 650/652/653, but it is located next to it. Confirmation that the Snapdragon 625 is really good is the recent presentation of a phablet by Xiaomi Mi Max 2- a fast, long-lasting device, what else do you need from a phablet? Moreover, today Snapdragon 625 works in more than 20 different smartphone models from different manufacturers, including in A-brand devices. That is why today we will tell you about Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 in detail.

Snapdragon 625 CPU and GPU parameters

As we have already said, the chipset is based on Cortex-A53 cores, which are not divided into clusters, that is, there is no big.LITTLE technology. All eight cores operate at a clock speed that peaks at 2 GHz. The processor is built using a modern 14-nm process technology, like the top 2016 solutions Snapdragon 820 and 821. However, unlike them, the Snapdragon 625 is less productive, while it provides very long battery life to any device. This effect is achieved due to the same energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores and the 14-nm process technology. Also, devices with Snapdragon 625 practically do not heat up, which eliminates throttling even when playing heavy games for long periods of time. Like all modern processors, the Snapdragon 525 is 64-bit.

In terms of graphics, the situation is as follows: the video core is Adreno 506. This graphics adapter can easily handle both regular games and heavy projects at medium graphics settings.

Snapdragon 625 in Antutu and GeekBench

Although the performance in synthetics and the operation of processors in everyday life are slightly different things, benchmarks are still a universal tool for getting an approximate idea of the capabilities of a particular platform.

So Snapdragon 625 Xiaomi smartphone Redmi Note 4X scores almost 62,000 points, although the processor's capabilities allow it to be content with higher results in some cases - up to 65,000 points. Nevertheless, the performance indicator fully reflects the position of the chipset - a strong average, no matter what. Unlike Mediatek processors, which show one thing in synthetics, but another in practice, the Snapdragon 625 (and indeed all Qualcomm products) works out every point received. In our case, the processor cores are close to the 20,000 mark, and the video accelerator scores more than 12,000 points.

In another popular benchmark, GeekBench, the Snapdragon 625 produces the following results: 925 points in single-core mode and 4065 in multi-core mode. In practice, the following is known - games and applications open quickly, almost instantly, the shell or pure Android flies without lags or slowdowns, heavy toys run well. There really are no questions about the performance of the Snapdragon 625 - everything is fine with it.

Snapdragon 625 memory

The processor has no problems with memory - a typical set for the average. The Snapdragon 625 uses the LPDDR3 standard as volatile memory, which can only operate in single-channel mode with a frequency of up to 933 MHz. The internal storage type is eMMC 5.1 standard, and for external memory cards the SD 3.0 (SDCC) standard is used. Although flagships mainly use the standard internal memory UFS 2.0 or UFS 2.1, for mid-budget devices in which the Snapdragon 625 chip is installed, the speed of an eMMC 5.1 type drive is more than enough.

Snapdragon 625 cameras

Although there is not a word on the official website about support for Snapdragon 625 dual camera modules, it is still quite possible. The processor itself supports photo modules with a matrix resolution of up to 24 MP, while in nature it already exists Nubia smartphone M2, which has two 13 MP main cameras. Also, the mobile platform from Qualcomm includes two ISP cores for image processing, which means that with the proper sensor and optics, a smartphone with a Snapdragon 625 can get good quality photos that are not much inferior to those from flagships.

In addition, devices powered by Snapdragon 625 are capable of both recording and playing back video clips in 4K resolution (2160p) at speeds up to 30 frames per second. The following codecs are supported: H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC).

Snapdragon 625 display

If for budget solutions (like the Snapdragon 435) support for displays with a resolution of up to 1920x1200 pixels is an excellent indicator, then in the case of the Snapdragon 625 this does not cause any surprise. At the same time, the display refresh rate can reach 60 fps.

Snapdragon 625 - modem and wireless networks

If you need fast internet, then the Snapdragon 625 solution is perfect for your purposes. The chip is equipped with a modem that allows you to download data via the LTE Cat.7 protocol at speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s, and upload via LTE Cat.13 at speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s. In total, the mobile platform is capable of operating in the following networks:

  • Snapdragon All Mode;
  • LTE FDD;
  • LTE TDD;
  • LTE Broadcast;
  • WCDMA (DB-DC-HSDPA, DC-HSUPA);
  • TD-SCDMA;
  • CDMA 1x;
  • EV-DO;
  • GSM/EDGE.
  • VoLTE with SRVCC to 3G and 2G;
  • Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) with LTE call continuity;
  • HD and Ultra HD Voice (EVS).

The Snapdragon 625 processor is also not deprived of a fast Wi-Fi module, which supports the following standards at speeds of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz:

  • 802.11ac Wave 2;
  • 802.11n;
  • 802.11a/b/g.

Maximum data transfer speed via wireless Wi-Fi networks can reach 433 Mbit/s, however, 2x2 MIMO technology increases throughput networks are not supported. At the same time, the processor supports Bluetooth version 4.1, which is endowed with technology Low Energy to reduce battery consumption.

Snapdragon 625 and navigation system

With navigation, the Snapdragon 625 is doing great, since it supports all existing systems, namely: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo. It is possible to work with satellites using A-GPS technology, as well as location tracking via OTDOA (LTE-based positioning). For less battery consumption, the chipset supports Low Power Geofencing and Tracking technology.

There is support for NFC chips for wireless manipulations with a smartphone.

Snapdragon 625 and fast charging

Unfortunately, few mid-budget devices support fast charging, although the Snapdragon 625 itself includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It allows you to fill the battery capacity to 68 percent in just half an hour and this is very valuable in the case of large batteries. However, the same Redmi 4 Prime with its 4100 mAh is deprived fast charging and is content with a current voltage of only 5V/2A, while charging in about 2.5 hours.

Qualcomm Snapdaragon 625 - smartphones

More than two dozen smartphones from various manufacturers operate on the basis of the mid-price mobile platform from Qualcomm:

  • Asus ZenFone 3 ZE552KL— from 237 euros;
  • Asus ZenFone 3 ZE520KL— from 224 euros;
  • Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe ZS550KL— from 325 euros;
  • Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom ZE553KL— from 391 euros;
  • Samsung Galaxy C7— from 266 euros;
  • Huawei Maimang 5— from 281 euros;
  • Huawei G9 Plus— from 185 euros;
  • Huawei Nova— from 247 euros;
  • Huawei Nova Plus— from 278 euros;
  • Oppo R9s— from 384 euros;
  • Nubia Z11 mini S— from 233 euros;
  • Nubia M2— from 255 euros;
  • ZTE Axon 7 Max— from 290 euros;
  • ZTE Blade V8 Pro— from 178 euros;
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro— from 145 euros;
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4— from 126 euros;
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x— from 144 euros;
  • Xiaomi Mi Max 2— from 221 euros;
  • Lenovo Vibe P2— from 212 euros;
  • Lenovo Moto Z Play— from 307 euros;
  • Lenovo Moto G5 Plus— from 229 euros;
  • BlackBerry KEYone— from 578 euros;
  • Vivo V5 Plus- no price;
  • Smartisan Pro- from 246 euros.

As you can see, the processor is very popular among electronics manufacturers, and Snapdragon 625 can be found in such little-known (at least in the CIS countries) smartphones as Smartisan Pro and Vivo V5 Plus. At the same time, the most expensive device on the Snapdaragon 625 turned out to be the BlackBerry KEYone, which costs almost as much as flagships from A-brands on top chipsets. As for the cheapest smartphone, the Redmi Note 4 device has firmly established itself here. In principle, there is nothing surprising in this, since Xiaomi has always been famous for its very tasty price tags with the proper hardware.

N-number of cores, several gigabytes of RAM, diagonals larger than 5 inches and other races did not particularly concern Nokia for a long time. But over time, the Finnish company realized that it was necessary to give users what they want, and so the Nokia Lumia line began to expand. More precisely, their screen diagonals. Today we are talking about Nokia Lumia 625.

Compared to other budget Nokia Lumia devices, the 625 model does not particularly stand out except for its large screen diagonal. It is 4.7 inches. But not everything is so rosy. Nokia Lumia 625 is a phone of controversy. More about this in its own place, but for now let’s talk about the box and delivery.

Nothing new. A small blue box with images of the large Nokia Lumia 625 printed on it. The box is pleasant to the touch and made of completely recyclable cardboard - Nokia cares not only about users, but also about environment. In the box you will find big phone, charger, USB cable and headphones. The headphones are bad - as always in budget Nokia, although the Nokia Lumia 620 comes with much better in-ear headphones.

The design of the devices is created in the best traditions of Nokia. The Lumia 625 looks very similar to the Nokia Lumia 620, only in a much larger size. The 620 model has 3.7 inches, versus 4.7 inches. Rear panel completely wraps around the body of the device. Removing it is even more difficult than on the Nokia Lumia 620 - you need to press the small camera lens and pull the cover towards you. This very cover can be white, black, yellow, orange or green. But they are no longer as attractive and bright as the covers of the 620 model, although here they are also double-colored. All options use a matte finish.

The dimensions of the device are very large, like for a Windows Phone smartphone. Only the HTC Titan was this big before. It is 133 millimeters long, 72 millimeters wide and only 9 millimeters thick. The weight of the device, oddly enough, is not large - 159 grams. Nokia Lumia 625 is slightly larger than Nokia Lumia 925, but the frames around the screen are thicker, which I didn’t really like.

If you remove back cover, then you can find a 2000 mAh battery. But you won’t be able to pull it out yourself - the battery is not removable. 2000 mAh is one of the best indicators on Windows Phone. In talk mode, the device can work for as long as 32 hours, 7 hours in web browser mode, and 6.5 hours in video playback mode. If you use your Nokia Lumia 625 carefully, the battery life will be two days, or even more.

Windows Phone is controlled by classic and familiar elements - on the right side there is a volume rocker, a lock/power button and a camera shutter button. On the front panel at the bottom there are three touch buttons - back, home and search. When you press a key, they emit a slight vibration and glow white in the dark. At the top there is a 3.5 mm audio output, at the bottom there is a microUSB output.

It's time to pay attention to the best thing about this device. The 4.7-inch screen has a rather strange resolution - only 800x480. The pixel density due to the large diagonal and low resolution is only 199 pixels per inch. The IPS screen matrix provides the screen with excellent viewing angles and a large margin of brightness. But, unfortunately, in the sun the screen loses almost all its brightness. The absence of a ClearBlack polarizing layer is also sad. It's strange to see that the improved Nokia model Lumia 620 received a weaker screen in terms of parameters. In a nutshell, the Nokia Lumia 625 has a typical, average screen.

You can get the most out of your screen with software- parts of the operating system and Windows updates Phone Amber, which comes pre-installed right out of the box. To do this, go to settings - screen - color profile. There you can set the temperature and color saturation.

The processor in Nokia Lumia 625 is more powerful than in previous models. Whereas in budget models MSM8227 is installed, today's hero has MSM8930 with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and Adreno 305 graphics. As for the amount of memory, there is +1 disappointment - the Nokia Lumia 625 has a 512 MB RAM limit. It's sad, but on such a large screen you won't be able to play games like Modern Combat 4 (the craftsmen still optimized the game for 512MB - ) or NOVA.

By the way, please note that Nokia Lumia 625 can work in 2G GSM networks, 3G and 4G LTE. This is the most affordable LTE smartphone on at the moment. There is 8GB available for user data, but due to the system features, only 6-6.5GB will be free. Memory can be expanded using microSD cards memory up to 64GB. Applications cannot be installed on a memory card, so it is better to leave the phone memory for applications. Other connection options available to you include WiFi bgn and Bluetooth 3.0. Unfortunately, there is no NFC.

The Nokia Lumia 625's camera is as average as its screen. There are only 5 megapixels and a mono-LED flash. In excellent lighting, a smartphone can take great pictures, but in low light the camera begins to fail. But I was very pleased with the ability to shoot FullHD video. This is thanks to the new processor. Right out of the box, you have access to the Nokia Smart Cam application, which can decorate your photos with additional effects - dynamic focus, shooting in motion and others. There is also a front VGA camera for video calls on Skype.

Unfortunately, the Amber update on the Nokia Lumia 625 does not provide a special Glance Screen - the clock will not be displayed when the screen is turned off due to the lack of a ClearBlack polarizing filter. It is very good that the Nokia Lumia 625 has an activated FM radio, which the Nokia Lumia 620 cannot boast of.

Geolocation services are presented in the form of HERE Maps and HERE Drive. For offline navigation, first download maps to your device. Nokia puts a lot of emphasis on its navigation. Thanks to this, offline navigation works very efficiently and quickly.

Bottom line. Nokia Lumia 625 is a device full of contradictions. On the one hand, it’s very pleasing big screen with a diagonal of 4.7 inches, on the other hand, the lack of ClearBlack, the small amount of RAM and the weak camera are very disappointing. For a device with a launch price of $300, this is somehow a bit much.

The display leaves ambivalent impressions. The IPS matrix provides good viewing angles, brightness and contrast are adjustable over a very wide range, sensitivity is excellent - the smartphone is able to respond to touches even through gloves. Multi-touch operation is also worthy of praise - 10 simultaneous touches. However, after prolonged use, one cannot dare to call the screen high-quality: firstly, the display suffers from uneven backlighting, especially in its lower part, and secondly, 800x840 pixels at 4.7 inches look terrible. This is especially noticeable in obviously high-quality online videos and graphics of 3D mobile games. For comparison: a density of 201 ppi is the indicator of such a fossil model as, for example, the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. So why in 2013, when Full HD in smartphones had already become commonplace, did Nokia skimp on installing a slightly less grainy display? First of all, we should say “thank you” to Microsoft for this feature. The maximum resolution supported by Windows Phone 8 is 1280x720 and, accordingly, it is left to the flagships. A similar situation will exist in the SoC specification, but more on that later. It should be taken for granted that the budget Windows Phone will be inexorably cut off, not for economic reasons, but purely for marketing reasons.

Hardware platform

Nokia Lumia 625 is based on the Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset with a modification of the MSM8930 processor. The processor was released in the third quarter of 2012 and differs from its predecessors in its expanded support for instructions and operation in LTE networks. Windows Phone has always been fairly resource-intensive operating system and this power is enough for her eyes. In terms of processor and graphics, the Lumia 625 is superior to the 520, 620, 720 and 900 models in synthetic tests, but falls slightly short of the HTC Windows Phone 8X. Applications open instantly, sites of any complexity do not slow down the device at all, switching from an online movie to a camera occurs in one second. The responsiveness of the system is excellent, everything “flies”.

The sound from the speaker (both conversational and main) is loud and clear, and the device has enough potential even to work well with high-impedance headphones.

The stated compatibility with LTE also works well. Megafon-Moscow in the central regions of Moscow provides about 20-25 megabits in both directions. While the basis of smartphones used in the capital are devices that support a maximum of HSDPA, 4G is a good opportunity to get uncongested Internet for minor needs (serious needs will already require significant expenses).
