Xenium has long been associated with a good battery and, accordingly, long term work without recharging. The company recently introduced a budget new product Philips Xenium W3568 and in this review we will see how this device turned out. The smartphone can work and has a powerful dual-core processor.

Philips Xenium W3568 has a discreet appearance, like most budget models. The device is slightly larger in size than its competitors, due to a more capacious battery. The upper and lower ends of the phone use matte plastic with a coating, reminiscent of the feel of a Soft-touch coating.

At the top of the front panel there is a camera for video calls, as well as proximity and lighting sensors and a speaker protected by a miniature mesh.

Below the display are touch control buttons and a microphone hole. On the right edge there is a button to turn the device on/off. On the left side there is a volume control. The buttons are quite comfortable and have a fairly large and distinct stroke.

The phone is assembled quite well, the parts fit tightly to each other and do not creak.

Phone size: 68×126.8×11.95 mm. Device weight – 137 g.

Performance and Software

The Philips Xenium W3568 smartphone is equipped with the well-known dual-core MediaTek MT6572 chip, the bus frequency of each core is 1.2 GHz. The phone has 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. The device is equipped with a Mali-400MP video module.

The smartphone has the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system installed. Among the programs that are initially installed on the phone are the convenient TouchPal keyboard and the Xenium Club application store. The phone also contains Google services. For its price category, the device works quite quickly. The performance is quite sufficient for working with various applications, but games with high requirements may not run on this model. The phone transmits speech perfectly, the interlocutor can be heard loud and clear. You can install two SIM cards in your smartphone, since there is only one radio module, then when using one SIM card, the second one will be blocked. The smartphone has a high-quality Wi-Fi module that holds the signal well. But GPS works with minor problems, searching for a satellite takes a long time, and sometimes the signal is lost.

The smartphone works in networks GSM standard 900/1800/1900, as well as on the Internet - 3G.

AnTuTu performance test.

Screen

The Philips Xenium W3568 model has a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. The detail of the display image is good, but as for the brightness and viewing angles, this is frankly the weak side of the model. The image is difficult to see in the sun.

Camera

The smartphone has two cameras: front and main. The matrix resolution of the main camera is 3 MP, and the front one is 0.3 MP. The main camera can record HD video, this is a definite plus, but as for the pictures, although they are not of particular quality, they are quite acceptable considering the inexpensive price of the device.

Battery

The capacity of the battery installed in the model is 2000 mAh. The phone's hardware is designed to reduce power consumption as much as possible. This is quite enough for the device to work for about two days with average usage. When watching videos, the phone will work for about 5 hours without recharging. According to the manufacturer, the phone has thirteen hours of talk time and about 500 hours of standby time.

Conclusion

If we consider models in the price category of about five thousand rubles, then for the most part they are all inferior to the Philips Xenium W3568. By purchasing this budget model The buyer receives a phone that holds a fairly good battery charge and has excellent performance and functionality. From weaknesses The phone can be highlighted by the weak brightness of the screen, the image of which is difficult to see in bright sunlight.

The average price of a device in Russia is about 4,500 rubles.

Philips Xenium smartphones lead many to believe that the autonomy of these devices will be excellent regardless of the price of the device. The test Philips Xenium W3568 is equipped with a 2000 mAh battery. It works on the basis of dual-core MediaTek processor MT6572 operating room control Android systems 4.2 and is equipped with two SIM card slots.

The smartphone looks discreet - a typical representative of the budget segment. In terms of dimensions, the Xenium W3568 is slightly larger than its competitors, which is due to a more capacious battery.

The side edges of the smartphone are slightly beveled, to a greater extent at the top and bottom ends, and to a lesser extent at the right and left. The upper and lower ends are made of matte plastic, which feels like soft-touch spraying. The front panel is covered protective glass. At its top there is front-camera 0.3 MP, light and proximity sensors, and a voice speaker, below is the manufacturer’s logo. Under the four-inch screen you can see backlit hardware touch keys and a microphone. It’s good that the manufacturer didn’t go crazy with the location of the connectors. Everything is in its place. On the right side is the power/lock key, and on the left is the volume key. The top end contains a Micro-USB connector and a 3.5 mm audio jack. On the back of the device there is a flash, a 3 MP camera, a multimedia speaker and the manufacturer’s logo. Under the lid is accumulator battery 2000 mAh, and under it there are two slots for SIM cards and a slot for MicroSD memory cards.

The buttons are convenient, have a clearly visible action, although there is one incomprehensible issue with the lock key. Often, after pressing the lock key, the device responds late, especially when you need to wake up the smartphone from sleep mode. This is annoying because sometimes you have to wait a long time for the device to respond. Everything is fine with the assembly of the smartphone, back cover holds securely and does not creak. The body has excellent rigidity. An unpleasant moment assembly is that the volume and lock keys have noticeable play.

Operating system and shell

Like most budget phones, Philips Xenium W3568 is based on operating system Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean without any additional decorations or add-ons. Among the preinstalled programs we can note the presence of a TouchPal keyboard and Xenium Club. Latest application is something like an application store. By the way, Google services are presented in full.

Performance

The device runs on the familiar combination of a dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. The frequency of each core is 1.3 GHz. The well-known Mali-400MP acts as a video accelerator. Once turned on, approximately 190 MB of RAM is available. The performance level is typical for a device in the entry-level price segment. The device works quickly. During everyday work, the interface is smooth enough, but there may be problems with launching productive games, but again, do not forget about the class of the device.

The voice quality is very good. The voice speaker did not disappoint either. The speaker volume and vibration power are sufficient to not miss a call. Like the vast majority of competitors, the device has one radio module. Therefore, when calling using one of the SIM cards, the second one will not be available. Wi-Fi operation deserves only praise, but with the search for GPS satellites everything is not so rosy. Satellites take a long time to find and are easily lost, but this problem occurs relatively often on budget devices.

Autonomy

In terms of autonomy, we expected more from the device. For a device running on the MediaTek MT6572 platform with a 2000 mAh battery, the results are far from impressive. The smartphone easily lasts for two days with above-average load.

Screen

The Philips Xenium W3568 smartphone is equipped with a 4-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a light sensor. There is no oleophobic coating.

The maximum display brightness is 253 cd/m2, 50% is 178.5 cd/m2, and the minimum is 80 cd/m2. Subjectively, the display brightness is not enough for comfortable work in sunny conditions, and the minimum brightness, to put it mildly, is too high, that is, working with a smartphone in the dark is tiring for the eyes. The detailing is good, but the color rendition and viewing angles are not encouraging. The display test results can be seen below.

Camera

The smartphone is equipped with two cameras - a main one with a resolution of 3 megapixels and a front one with a resolution of 0.3 megapixels. Both cameras do not have autofocus. The main one is capable of recording HD video, the front one is VGA. The camera settings are standard. The quality of photos and videos of both the front and rear cameras is below average. Examples of photos and videos can be seen below.

Results

The smartphone turned out to be too ordinary. Of course, the logo of a famous company on the front panel should inspire confidence, but not everything is so smooth. Disadvantages in the form of better screen, cameras and relatively high cost are difficult to overcome with advantages, including autonomy. It is impossible not to mention the problems of mechanical keys and the incomprehensible thoughtfulness of the lock key. As a result, the smartphone can be recommended to people who value autonomy and support for two SIM cards, while other parameters fade into the background.
