No matter how strange it may be, some actions that can be performed on phones running the Android system in just a few clicks will be very difficult on an iPhone. For example, to remove standard sounds, you will have to turn on your ingenuity. In this article we want to tell you about the principles of deleting ringtones, for example, or simply for the sake of clearing free space.

Removing a ringtone directly from iPhone

First, you should know that you will be able to erase unnecessary sounds directly from the device only if it is jailbroken. It allows you to get full access to all files. If you do not have this function enabled, you will have to use a computer.

Otherwise, it will be extremely easy to remove the ringtone. To do this, find it on the Internet, download and install it. We recommend paying attention to iFile, it has a wide range of functions; our instructions will use this manager as an example. Next we carry out the following manipulations:

1. Launch the manager and go to the following path: /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Ringtones/
2. We are looking for a ringtone that will need to be deleted, but you should know that it will not be possible to identify it by name, since iTunes renames the files. The iFile manager has a built-in player with which you can play sounds and listen to them, so you can understand what needs to be erased;
3. Swipe left on the desired melody, and then click on the “Delete” inscription. All actions must be done carefully, since the program will not ask for confirmation.

Removal process for jailbroken devices

Now the extra sound will never bother you again, you can replace it with a new melody.

Removing sounds via iTunes

In order to remove unnecessary sounds from a phone that does not have Jailbreak installed, you will need the following:

1. iPhone from which you need to remove the ringtone;
2. USB cable, which usually comes with the device;
3. Computer, since you will need to connect the device to it;
4. iTunes updated to the latest version;

It is also worth noting that using this method you can only delete ringtones that were previously downloaded to your iPhone using iTunes. So, to remove unnecessary songs you need to perform the following manipulations:

• Connect the device to the computer using a USB cable;
• Turn on iTunes, find the “Devices” section, then select your iPhone;
• Go to the “Options” -> “Browse” section and check the box next to “Sync only selected songs and videos.” This should be done in cases where you want to remove certain melodies, and not all at once.

• If you want to erase from your memory absolutely all ringtones that were downloaded via iTunes, uncheck the box next to “Sync sounds”, and then click “Apply”. Upon completion, the ringtones will be erased from the device's memory, but they will be saved in iTunes;
• If you want to delete only certain songs, then do not uncheck “Synchronize sounds”, but in the list below click on “Selected sounds”. After this, a list of all sounds will be displayed. All you have to do is uncheck those melodies that need to be erased from the device’s memory and click “Change” to confirm the actions.

Removing ringtones using a third-party manager

By using an alternative file manager, recommended for use -, you will be able to delete sounds downloaded through iTunes or another file manager. To delete ringtones you need to do the following:

Hello! Quite recently, we set our own ringtone on the iPhone and, despite all the difficulties, we still managed to do it. But a person’s tastes are constantly changing - for example, I’m already tired of the song that I recently set to ringtone. I want, you know, something new!

Well, creating something new is not a problem (), but what to do with an old ringtone that is no longer needed? There are not many options - leave or delete. If left, it will take up precious internal memory. Therefore, we will delete it. And here again, with Apple, everything is not as it should be with people.

Why? Because it's not serious at all...

You can't just delete a ringtone from your iPhone. Well, there is no such option in the iPhone settings!

What then? Now I’ll tell you and show you everything. Let's go!

We will only consider the official method (without jailbreaks and other nonsense). After all, jailbreak is practically “dead”, and this method of removing ringtones will live forever :)

As usual, in order for the information to be as truthful as possible and verified from personal experience, I will go through all the manipulations together with you.

So, I have two “extra” ringtones on my iPhone:

1. Made and uploaded yourself via iTunes.
2. Purchased from the official iTunes Store. The price, by the way, is 22 rubles! But for Kipelov, even “fifty dollars” is not a pity :)

Task: remove these ringtones.

Now let's definitely go!

Step 1 (connect iPhone to iTunes). There should be no problems here - we take the cable (preferably the original one), connect the iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.

Step 2 (very important point!). After launching iTunes, click on the phone image in the upper left corner.

And then, at the very bottom, check the box next to “Process music and videos manually” and click “Apply”.

Step 3 (open sound controls). We don’t go anywhere and look at the left side menu - we are interested in the “Sounds” line. Select it - a list of all ringtones that have been downloaded to your iPhone appears on the right.

Step 4 (removing ringtones). Right-click on any of these ringtones, select “Remove from library” and click “Synchronize”.

All! We take the iPhone in our hands, open “Settings - Sounds, tactile signals - Ringtone” and see that this sound is no longer there. Hooray! Although...

Some problems can always arise - where would we be without them? :) And here’s what you can do if the instructions described above do not help:

• Try installing a different build of iTunes. The fact is that the latest versions of the program (12.7 and older) are “stripped down” - Apple has removed many functions from them. Therefore, with its help we try to remove the ringtone.
• Try to erase the sound using the same program through which it was originally downloaded to the iPhone. Because if the ringtone was installed using a third-party program (for example, iFunBox), then iTunes may not be able to remove such ringtones.

Sometimes, deleting ringtones from iPhone using iTunes 12 does not work, so you have to look for alternatives. Having not erased it before, we tried: and again, we tried installing it, resetting the settings, but none of the above helped.

Of course, you can do this, then the undeletable ringtone will definitely be erased from the iPhone settings, but in place of the ringtone, all the information will be deleted, which is not always convenient. All that remains is to try third-party programs - iFunBox or iTools, which work without a jail. The following instructions may be useful in the following situations:

We will try to remove the ringtone in the i-FunBox program, if iTools is more convenient for you, you can use it, the steps are approximately the same:

• To your computer or laptop
• Using a cable, connect the iPhone to the computer and launch iFunBox

• In the list, select the Raw File System section (in iTools this section is called File System)

• In this section we find our ringtone in the format, it is located in the following path: iTunes_Control → Ringtones
• The name of the ringtone will look unusual, so if it is the only one you have, then there should be no problems: right-click on the ringtone and select Delete (or Delete).

Now look at the iPhone - Settings - Sounds, tactile signals - Ringtone, only standard ringtones remain here, the rest have been successfully removed from the device.

It is advisable to use erasing ringtones using third-party programs only if iTunes cannot remove them. If iTunes removes ringtones correctly, then you should use it.

It's high time iOS developers implemented a strikeout feature to remove ringtones directly from iPhone settings. Oh yes, we did not try to delete purchased ringtones; in the example, only ringtones downloaded by the user were considered. • Set the Find My iPhone option to Off. (off);
• Return to iTunes and again in the Browse section, click the Restore button.

How to get rid of Apple ID?

In fact, you cannot delete an account using standard functions either in iTunes, or on your phone, or in any other third-party services. There are two ways to solve this problem.

Method number 1: contact technical support

Note. To implement this method, you will need knowledge of the English language or the “services” of a translator program (the service also considers requests with machine texts).

1. Open the page in your browser - apple.com/support/feedback (fields for formatting a letter to the company's technical support).

2. Fill out the form fields. Data marked “required” must be specified. Otherwise, the letter will not be sent.

• in “Email”, indicate the address of the mailbox to which you registered your account;
• in “Subject”, succinctly formulate your request to remove the ID;
• In the “Comment” indicate the reason why you want to get rid of the identifier.

3. To send a letter to the Apple server, click “Submit Suggestion”.

If the text of the request was drawn up correctly and all steps to complete the letter were completed correctly, after 7-30 days a letter will be sent to the specified email from technical support with a link to confirm the deletion of the ID.

Method number 2: “freeze” the identifier

When performing this method, the existence of the ID does not cease, but only its functions are deactivated by changing the settings.

1. Open on your PC, in a browser, the web page - appleid.apple.com (offsite of the company).

2. Click on the “Manage Apple ID” button.

4. Change all existing data in your account from true to fictitious, including your current email.

Upon completion of this procedure, the modified Apple ID will have only a formal relationship with you.

How to delete photos?

Removal from film

1. To get rid of one photo, in viewing mode, tap on the “Trash” icon in the lower right corner.

2. To delete many photos at once:

• go to the “Camera Film” section;
• In the lower left corner, tap the “arrow” icon;
• touch the thumbnails of the photos you want to remove with your finger;
• click the "Delete" button.

1. Launch the Photos app.

How to remove a ringtone using iTunes?

1. In the iTunes window, on the “Browse” tab, in the “Options” section, enable the “Manually process music and videos” add-on (check the box).

2. Go to the “Sounds” (ringtones) tab.

3. Check the box next to “Synchronize sounds”. Click the radio button in the Selected Sounds add-on.

4. Uncheck the box next to the ringtones you want to get rid of.

In 2015, the Apple Music streaming service launched, expanding the capabilities of working with music on the iPhone. Users can now do without the constant synchronization of new songs through iTunes, replacing it with a cloud one. With the latest iOS updates, smartphone storage management has become more flexible. To work with multimedia files, a PC is practically not needed.

Music app

Music control on iPhone is concentrated in the application of the same name. In it, you can change various playback settings, interact with the cloud, and delete unnecessary content.

1. On the main settings page, we go down to the last block containing multimedia applications. Below it will be only programs independently installed by the user.

1. The second item activates the preliminary blocking of free space, the maximum allocated on the device, to download music. The space limit is fixed and ranges from 6.25 to 50 percent of the total internal memory.

Storage management

With the release of iOS 11, Apple changed the minimum amount of preinstalled memory. Now for the iPhone 7 and other previously released models it is 32 GB, and last year's 8, 8 Plus and X received 64 GB. In the operating system itself, compared to the previous iOS 10, the storage management area has been completely redesigned.

1. Open your media library in album view mode. Sorting is done by artist or by title, depending on the user's previously defined preferences. Having selected the album to be deleted, long press on the icon to open the context menu.

1. For music downloaded to the device, it looks as shown in the screenshot. An album located in the cloud and intended for online listening will have the “Delete” option instead of the one indicated.

Using a PC

You can manage music uploaded to your iPhone using the iTunes program installed on your computer. The technique depends on the principle of using the media library. For a general one, with synchronization via the cloud, certain actions are required, and for a local one, located only on a smartphone, others are required.

Manage your iCloud Library

Apple constantly promotes the active use of wireless technologies in its devices. Organizing a shared music collection through cloud synchronization allows you to manage it from any device, including a computer.

1. Having launched iTunes, select browsing by album, as we did on the iPhone. Using the menu marked “1”, we can delete it completely. The number “2” shows the context menu for a particular composition.

1. Any selected action will require confirmation. By clicking on the designated button, we delete the song not only from the PC, but also from the iCloud library. As a result, the selected composition will be automatically erased on the smartphone.

Ctrl or Command + A – depends on the OS you are using. Having opened the context menu for the selected files, we use the same delete item.

Local synchronization

Users who cannot or do not want to get used to cloud technologies are left with working with music the old fashioned way - using a cable connection to synchronize with the iPhone.

1. In the PC interaction settings, go to the overview tab. Place a check mark on the item indicated by the arrow. This way we activate manual selection of songs.

1. Go to the “Music” item in the side menu. To remove songs from your smartphone, uncheck the boxes next to them. Having left what is necessary, we complete the synchronization via the cable by pressing the button marked “3”.
