Not all users of the Flyme OS shell like Meizu's innovations. Sometimes you want to roll back to the previous version of a standard utility or even try some software without updating the entire Flym. I present to your attention a general repository in which you can download any application you like from Fly without any problems/registrations/SMS.
Note:
1. Applications are located in alphabetical order.
2. Each program has several versions with different firmware. Index A means that the application file is pulled from the Chinese version of the shell, as a result of which there may be some Chinese language and under-translation in it. Indexes I and G are global international versions of Flaym. Beta is an application from the beta version of the firmware.
3. Apk files of programs are installed on top installed applications.
4. If there is a “root” mark next to the file, then installing it will require root access and replacement system files.

AlarmClock.apk- standard alarm clock with advanced capabilities - world time, timer, stopwatch.
Browser.apk— “Browser” application on Flyme. Starting with the version for the fifth, Flyme is terribly reminiscent of the popular “Dolphin”, but every time it improves for the better.
Calculator.apk— “Calculator” application from Meizu developers. In the fifth fly it got an engineering mode and a redesigned design. In addition, there is a built-in converter of quantities and currencies, as well as the ability to work in a window on top of other applications.
Calendar.apk— the “Calendar” application practically does not change from version to version. The ability to create reminders, events and other features is still available. As a replacement for Google calendar, it’s not very good, but for stock software the range of capabilities is excellent.
Camera.apk- Camera app on Flyme. Like other multimedia applications, the camera improves from version to version. On the 5 it takes tolerable pictures, but on the Flyme 6 the images are of better quality.
Email.apk- standard Mail application. Ordinary mail client, inferior in functionality to more famous analogues such as Gmail.
FileManager.apk— the “Explorer” application is a standard file manager. Most people use it only to flash the device. Still, in terms of functionality it is far from ESExplorer.
Gallery.apk— the “Gallery” application is a classic program for viewing pictures and photos. Easy viewing, scaling, excellent rendering. It improves from version to version and is pleasing to the eye in the literal sense of the word.
Music.apk- Music app - stock music player. On Flyme 4 it had a special feature - Dirac HD, but it was cut out in Flyme 5. There were ways to return it, but Meizu stopped everything. We are waiting for Dirac to return to the top six.
MzSecurity.apk— the “Security” application is a security center with special options: speeding up work, clearing memory of junk, traffic control and energy saving, and much more. Flyme 6 has undergone design changes.
MzAccount.apk— “User Center” application — software for accessing your Flyme account and obtaining root access.
NotePaper.apk- Notepad application - a program for creating notes. It’s fundamentally different from Evernote, but it’s fine for recording a shopping list. Flyme 6 has simplified the design a little.
Painter.apk— the “Risovalka” application is a drawing program on a smartphone, a kind of Paint through the eyes of Meizu developers.
SoundRecorder.apk— The Voice Recorder application is designed to record both audio and telephone conversations. The quality of the recorded sound is good.
ToolBox.apk— the “Useful” application (Toolbox) appeared on Flyme 5 and is a set of small applications: a mirror, a digital compass, a magnifying glass, a flashlight with SOS mode and brightness adjustment, a scale and a thermometer. Flyme 6 added a noise level meter and a randomizer with a coin toss in the “heads-tails” style.
Video.apk— the “Video” application is a standard omnivorous player for watching videos. Perhaps one of the best video players of our time, playing everything.
The proprietary Flyme shell installed on Meizu contains so many useful features that we simply had to review this OS.
The Fly shell has almost the most user-friendly status bar, because it is not divided into parts, and, in addition, there are additional menu items for managing wireless interfaces directly from the status bar. And in the line there is a convenient display brightness control, which the developers of the operating system installed in the most early versions operating systems Flyme.
File Manager
Directly from the Explorer start screen, you can launch those programs or applications that have been sorted into categories, as well as connect to local network, see the status internal memory or open files on the memory card. A very cool feature is the ability to select several files at once by sliding your finger over them, and a nice bonus is the ability file manager to creating archives and working with them.
If you are not a fan of connecting your phone to your computer via a cord, then in this OS you can turn your gadget into a portable FTP server and manage files through a browser or special program on PC.
Launcher
The size of this shell is very convenient in terms of the 4x5 desktop grid with an additional panel at the bottom, and there is also no separate menu - all applications are installed directly on the desktop. Another advantage is that many standard applications are used infrequently, and therefore they were hidden in a separate folder.
By pinching the screen, you will open a special menu in which you can swap desktops, add new widgets, or change the wallpaper.
Keyboard and additional applications
In the very first versions of Flyme OS, the manufacturer used its own keyboard, but then they switched to TouchPal, which has a good built-in dictionary, with a long press you can call up a menu of symbols, and also has a huge number of themes and various settings. TouchPal is more functional and familiar to ordinary users– sometimes it’s better to use a ready-made solution rather than reinvent the wheel.
In addition to the standard calculator, which will surprise no one these days, there is also an engineering calculator, as well as a converter of various quantities and currencies. A cool feature is that exchange rates are regularly updated via the Internet, so you will always be correctly informed about the value of the currency.
Contacts and call window
Initially, it may seem that the dialer in this OS is very simple and equipped with only basic functionality. This is partly true, because there is no quick access to the Favorites section or support for the SmartDial function. But not everything is so simple - the operating system has the ability to block unwanted calls and SMS, you can record calls manually or automatically, or use these functions for individual contacts.
SMS messages
The main difference from competitive operating systems is the ability to mark SMS as read immediately from the notification feed. This can be convenient if you often receive one-time confirmation codes and do not want to see the annoying “one” on the message icon.
Browser
It is in the Fly shell very laconic, elegant and simple, supports reader mode (icon at the top right), as well as night and full screen. The main page is decorated with icons of the most popular sites among the user, at the top there is a search bar, and there is also an address bar. At the bottom is a log of visited sites, just above is a navigation bar, with which you can navigate back and forth between pages and switch to the main window. From the settings, you can go directly to the file download folder, refresh the page, or open the desktop version of the page.
Decor
The Flyme operating system allows the user to set one of several thousand different interface themes, launcher fonts, desktop wallpapers, and much more. Initially, the standard Flyme theme with classic icons will be installed on the smartphone out of the box. In Settings you can change how icons are displayed.
Photo gallery
Surely you use the gallery exclusively to view snapshots and images. But if you become the happy owner of Meizu, then take the trouble to get to know the gallery better. Its main screen is divided into photos taken by the camera and other folders - photos from Instagram, screenshots, etc.
Plus, if you have a Smart TV at home, you can send photos directly to the TV screen by turning on the broadcast from the photo gallery. Everything is here detailed information about the parameters of the photo and where it was taken.
But that's not all. By clicking on the “Change” button, you are taken to a menu containing a huge number of parameters:
- The first tab contains filters, the number of which even Instagram would envy;
- In the settings there are parameters for brightness, contrast, white balance and much more;
- The tools also provide many options: insertion of arrows, text, blur effect, brush for drawing and blurring personal information;
- The last button is responsible for the function of cropping the photo and rotating it. A nice feature is that you can rotate photos directly in the gallery using two fingers.
Camera
The functionality of the camera, on the one hand, is quite simple and clear, but on the other hand, there are a lot of different parameters, such as shooting mode (button at the bottom right), manual settings, enable a level or grid. Lovers of selfie shots will love the image processing function, sports enthusiasts will love the slow-motion feature, and those who love nature will love good macro. A plus is the ability to shoot directly in Gif format, which is very convenient and allows you to comfortably edit such videos in the future.
Music and video player
The video player in Flyme can play mkv format, and also supports almost all possible video codecs, multiple audio tracks and even subtitle playback. There is also a windowed mode that is so desirable for many users.
By tradition, in Meizu a lot of attention is paid to music - the media player here is as functional as possible. Firstly, it plays any playlists - FLAC, CUE, APE and others. Secondly, songs are very conveniently sorted here both in a general playlist and in different folders. And thirdly, there is no need for a powerful equalizer with a bunch of settings, which allows the user to adjust the sound as comfortably as possible to suit their needs.
Safety
There are several useful functions here:
- Cleaning memory and garbage. This includes deleting residual files, clearing the cache, removing various garbage from applications, as well as searching for the largest files in order to clear up space on the device as quickly as possible.
- Accelerator random access memory. This utility closes unused this moment programs to free up RAM.
- Spam blocking. Unwanted SMS and calls are blocked here.
- Permissions for software. Here you can have maximum control over each application and its access to various smartphone functions.
- Power management. Here the user has the opportunity to configure autonomous operation devices for yourself or disable the operation of some programs in the background.
- Search and remove viruses. This is practically a built-in antivirus for your Meizu.
Gesture control
Each new Meizu device has a built-in system for flexible smartphone control using gestures. For example, double tap turns on the display backlight, swiping right or left on the dimmed display switches songs in the media player, and swiping up unlocks the device. You can configure these and other gestures by going to the “Accessibility” settings item.

Undoubtedly, the Flyme shell only gets better over time - more functionality and more features, more comfort. Another advantage is that the flaws and shortcomings in it are also quickly eliminated - let’s take the replacement of the built-in keyboard with TouchPal. What Flyme OS features do you like best?

Reviews about updating Meizu M2 note to Flyme 5
The official update of Meizu M2 note to Flyme OS 5 was supposed to happen on May 31, but there was a delay and the release date of Flyme 5 on the budget M2 note became June 20. #10: User Center
That the Meizu M2 note update to Flyme OS 5 brought 2 new standard applications, one of which is called User Center.
User Center is an application for more convenient setting up of a Flyme account. To be precise, to set up the security of your Flyme account.
Now, you can strengthen your security by enabling the password request function and, if someone from a new phone number wants to log into your profile, link your phone number, set a security question, change your Flyme account password, or log out of it.
Security is never enough, and it’s nice that such functionality has become available directly from the phone, but unfortunately, the application has not yet been fully translated from Chinese.
No. 9: Ability to receive beta versions of Flyme over the air
This is undoubtedly a joy for all geeks. Now you don't need to go to w3bsit3-dns.com to update your M2 note to the latest beta. Just check the box and it will come. Cool!
Of course, this is not something new. This has already existed in iOS for a long time, and since Meizu positions itself as the heir to Apple, it would be a sin not to adopt such an option. In addition, it is profitable: you get feedback from millions of people around the world about the beta of the latest Flyme OS and learn first-hand what the user needs.
No. 8: Two Sim cards - Two ringtones
In the official list of firmware updates for Flyme 5.1.6.0G, Meizu indicated an interesting item in the settings section: the ability to use absolutely different melodies on each SIM card.
This is primarily designed for those who have one number for work and another for personal matters. The phone rings, and you immediately know what the issue is.
No. 7: Status bar aka Curtain
In the updated Flyme 5, Meizu M2 note also received a new Status bar with slightly expanded functionality and a new design.
Now you can customize the order of notifications (new ones will be displayed above), not just adjust the location required functions in the curtain, but also remove unnecessary ones, select the type of Wi-Fi connection and cellular communication and even go to settings directly from the notification shade.
Also some nice innovations:
- The screen brightness has been adjusted,
- Increased hours and date,
- Added the ability to reply to a message directly from the Status bar,
- Answer incoming calls and notifications,
- The “clear notifications” button has moved down for greater convenience.
#6 Lock screen
The first good news: notifications have appeared on the lock screen! This is of course not something supernatural today, but in old version Flyme 4.5.4, if you received a notification, you had to reach up to view it, and with a 5.5-inch display this is not entirely convenient. That is why, on the Meizu forums, many begin their positive reviews of Flyme 5 from this point.
Music management has also changed: the track cover began to be displayed on the locked screen, creating an interesting visual effect, the track control buttons have been redesigned: they have become larger and now it is almost impossible to miss when flipping through tracks.
And what surprised me most was the alarm clock. Firstly, it is a pleasant color for sleepy eyes, which prevents you from confusing it with anything else. Secondly, the “doze” button has been configured for how long to doze and is located in a convenient place. All this, combined with new melodies for the alarm clock, makes such a difficult process of getting up to work/school a little easier and more enjoyable.
№5 Flyme wallpaper, Flyme themes
The “Personalization” application in the Russian version of Flyme was not available earlier due to the fact that there was no translation from Chinese. Now the translation of all content is available and is in public access for all Meizu owners.
The famous Flyme wallpaper will help you conveniently find free wallpapers with the ability to “try them on” in one place.
I would especially like to mention the Flyme themes. If you want something new and some personalization of your phone, then this is the place for you. The choice of themes is really large, but be careful that all elements of the theme are readable and do not merge with the beautiful pictures.
No. 4 Two-window mode
Much has already been said and written by my colleagues on this subject. It’s not strange, because this is an excellent innovation that will allow you, without looking up from a video on You Tube, to read your Facebook feed or chat on Skype.
It is also convenient to create a separate single window for two applications in the multitasking panel. This means that you can easily return to this mode even after switching to another program.
But it’s worth saying that not all applications (even standard ones) support this functionality. Finding those that can do this is not difficult: a “window” icon appears next to the application; clicking on it launches a two-window mode.

#3 Camera and post-processing
The Camera application has greatly improved in the new firmware. Let's start with the fact that in Flyme 5, launching the camera from the lock screen works similarly to iOS (pull the camera icon up), and not by swiping to the left, as it was before. The program interface has become completely new new design. Now all adjustable parameters are on top, and shooting modes are moved down.
It was expected that the camera in the Meizu M2 note with the update to Flyme 5 would start taking better pictures, but unfortunately, this did not materialize. The camera takes pictures the same way, but the HDR mode now works more correctly. The speed of taking photos has also accelerated.
But the main changes came not so much to the Camera application itself, but to the built-in photo post-processing. Now users have access to 18 customizable filters, and the settings for brightness, contrast, temperature, saturation, vignetting and white balance have been improved.
The updates also affected the creation of wallpaper. Now you can blur the picture as much as you need, 23 textures have been added that will look great on your desktop and lock screen. And what’s also nice: all this can be “tried on” before saving the drawing.
#2 Access phone files via Wi-Fi
The Explorer application has also been transformed: it has received a new design and has learned to automatically group and provide access to device files via Wi-Fi.
The design is interesting, primarily because all the things you need are located on one screen and grouped in such a way that search the desired file took you just seconds. The section “ Local files» where, in addition to searching by documents, you can group by date, type and size.
But the “Files on the Network” section deserves special attention, allowing you to access files stored on the device you are interested in, as well as provide similar access from your phone. This innovation will be appreciated by many users, since your Meizu M2 note can become an excellent flash drive that doesn’t even need to be connected to a PC or MAC.
#1 Security Center
It’s not for nothing that the “Security Center” application received first place in our top 10, because it will provide you with comfortable use of your phone and prolong its life, both literally and figuratively.
The program will help you with:
- Cleaning up unnecessary garbage

Actually, “Security Center” is a kind of CC Cleaner, but standard and associated with other standard applications.
The application works really flawlessly and with the update to Flyme 5 the effect of it became really noticeable. Oddly enough, it was this application and the update to Flyme 5 that revived my Meizu M2 note 16 GB. This happened largely because immediately after the first cleaning, the application suggested carrying out a deeper one, which found tons of garbage that were successfully removed and the phone literally found a second wind.
Updates that didn't make it to the Top
When creating this top, I selected those updates that you will use more often than others, or that brought something completely new in comparison with previous versions, but there are also those that you may not use often, but at the right time they will be useful.
Obtaining Root rights directly from your phone
I found this function by accident in the “Settings” section “Security”. This innovation is not in the official list of system updates. Although the function itself has a narrow audience, the ability to get Root without connecting the phone to a computer and performing ritual dances with a tambourine will please many.
But on the downside, it is worth noting that the ability to get super-user mode does not work yet: after filling out the necessary fields, nothing happens.
Instant data transfer
This feature allows you to instantly transfer files to Android devices and iOS. You can encounter it when “sharing” a document from your phone. It is also worth noting the interesting appearance application that runs when a document is transferred.
Option to select “Bottom Navigation”
The “Accessibility” section of the menu has been replenished with a “Bottom Navigation View” tab, where you can choose between a Material Design-style pop-up icon and a line, as in previous versions of Flyme. We need to praise the developers, because not everyone likes the Material Design performed by Meizu and the line in some matters is even more convenient than a universal button.
Finale
Meizu M2 note update to Flyme 5.1.6.0G is successful. A completely new design, and with the possibility of customization, is an excellent solution for millions of customers around the world. It’s nice that the firmware is well optimized for last year’s device and this once again proves that Meizu can make good software.

— alarm clock version 6.0.0. The appearance has changed a little, it has become simpler a la material design. On the fifth version everything works, there is a Russian language.
— calculator version 6.6.0. In analogy with the alarm clock, the flight on Flyme 5 is normal. New features have been added like a mortgage calculator, income tax and more. When installed on Flyme 5, the calculator is slightly non-Russianized.
— calendar version 6.1.3. The Russian language is present, it has become very simple and “pale”, because the Meizushniks have removed all the “redness” from it. It works great, installed like a regular apk file on top of the current calendar.
— “Camera” application version 6.1.1. Updated both externally and internally. It takes pictures much better than the software in Flyme 5, especially noticeable in low light. The menu has changed for the better and has become more ergonomic. You can switch between modes by swiping, and activate the camera by double-clicking on the mBack button, even in sleep mode. However, quick camera activation does not yet work on Flyme 5. There are problems activating the front camera.
— “Phone” application version 3.0.0. Russified, there are no problems with the dialer when installed on Flyme 5.
— “Mail” application version 2.2.4. Compared to current version on Flyme 5.1.11.0G virtually unchanged.
— “Gallery” application version 6.0.0. It has changed a little in the sixth version of Flaim. As for the technical “stuffing”, the functionality is at the same level. However, when installing Meizu Gallery on Flyme 5, the photo editor does not work.
— “User Center” application version 6.0.0. Contains minor changes that are only relevant for Flyme 6. There is no point in installing it on the five, although if you want to use the English-language MZAccount, try it.
— Notepad application version 6.2.4. Like the calendar, the notepad has lost its previous yellow coloring, thereby almost all Flym applications have switched to a simpler, minimalist design.
— Voice Recorder application version 6.1.1. This software has zero changes since the Flyme 6 beta, or I didn’t notice.
— “Useful” application version 6.1.6. A kind of collection useful programs from Meizu in one place called Toolbox. Contains 8 icons with the following applications: digital compass (crashes if installed on Flyme 5), flashlight (changed compared to the version on Flyme 5), measurement scale with ruler and virtual protractor, mirror, magnifying glass, level and two new ones software - a sound meter (decibel) for measuring noise levels and a randomizer (Random) with a coin toss in the “heads-tails” style.
— “Video” application version 6.0.0 for watching videos. As usual, the Chinese version contains a bit of untranslated rubbish and unnecessary bells and whistles. And as usual, it spins everything without any hesitation or problems.
Applications with Fly 6 Beta 6.6.12.5 that require root access to install
— “Music” application version 6.0.0. The version on Flyme 6 has become simpler and more compact, and unnecessary colors have disappeared. There is a Russian language, the sound quality in my opinion and hearing (Sennheiser CX 300-II precision headphones) has become better than in the fifth fly. There is still no Dirac HD on Fly 6. The software cannot be installed like a regular APK file; root access is required. Open RootExplorer, go to the path system/priv-app/ and delete the Music, MusicFx folders. Then unpack the Music.rar archive and copy two directories (Music, MusicFx) to system/priv-app/. Tap on the folder, select “Permissions” and check the “Also set on all” checkbox. Set permissions to P (755) on both folders and restart your smartphone.
— “Messages” application version 6.0.1. The message design has been simplified to a minimum, however, as in the case of music, installation on Flyme 5 will require root, otherwise the program will crash. Download the archive, use root explorer to delete the mms folder in system/priv-app/, copy the contents of the archive back and set the permissions to 755. If you don’t understand anything, read the instructions for the “Music” application.
— “Browser” application version 6.0.5. I don’t know who might find it useful, but there is a lot of Chinese in the software. For those who decide to try, installation is carried out in the following way: open the system/priv-app/ folder in root explorer and delete the browserIntl directory. Then we copy the contents of the archive to the same folder, set the permissions to 755 and reboot.
— “Explorer” application version 6.1.3. The standard version of the Meizu file manager has received a number of external changes, but the functionality remains the same. Like some of the above programs, it is installed only by replacing files along the path system/app/FileManager. The principle of installing Explorer is the same: delete the folder >> upload another >> set the rights.
Security Center (MzSecurity version 4.1.3) and Battery Manager (mzbatterymanager version 1.3.25beta) could not be installed. AppCenter remains the same, and the Ebook application (book reader) has a Chinese-English interface and does not open any books on Flyme 5.
