While cases of counterfeit tablets are on the rise, we offer several ways to distinguish a fake from the original.
Recently, fakes on Samsung tablets have become more frequent. How to distinguish a fake from the original? During tablet tests, we studied two fake samsung galaxy Note and found many differences, knowing about which will help not to fall for the bait of scammers.

How to distinguish a fake by check?
The first thing we noticed was, of course, checks. These, at first glance, checks, upon closer examination, turn out to be fake. By the way, Euroset checks are most often forged.
We turned to Evroset-Retail LLC for a comment, but they couldn’t tell us anything over the phone and advised us to contact law enforcement agencies. But in the salons of Euroset, experienced sellers immediately found many differences between a fake check and the original. According to them, cash receipts may differ from region to region and from city to city, but regardless of this, certain information must be present on each check of the network, which was not found on counterfeit checks:
- On a real check, Euroset-Retail LLC should be written, and not Euroset LLC. Check true name legal entity retailer, as a rule, you can either on the official websites of these retailers, or in sales outlets.
- The full name of the goods must also be on the real check. In this case, the fake receipt did not contain the full name of the product (in our case, it was on the cash receipt that Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 should have been written)
- The receipt must have the serial number of the goods (in our case, it was not).
- The full name of the seller must be present. The seller's name was not on the counterfeit check.
How to distinguish a fake by the appearance of the device?

As a rule, a fake tablet looks different from the original. In our case, both fakes look almost the same from the front: only on the SM-P600 fake the logo is moved up, like the original, and applied crookedly, which is visible even to the eye. The fake N8000 has a logo at the bottom, as it should be with the real Galaxy Note N8000. In our case, it was easy to distinguish a fake by the size of the tablet. The diagonal of the displays of both fakes does not exceed 9 inches, instead of the prescribed 10.1 inches!

Paradoxically, a fake almost always differs from the original in a set of ports. So this time, they did not at all resemble what Samsung tablets should have.
The most notable, perhaps, is a separate “back” button on the top edge and a separate DC power socket on the right (the charger in the kit had a specific plug, not a Micro-USB plug). Actually, this Charger- one of the important indicators of a fake. Many people then go to stores for the same charger from “Samsung tablets” and are sincerely surprised that Samsung does not and did not have such chargers.

As for the rear panels, here the scammers “got something wrong”. How to distinguish crafts by filling and functionality?
The third thing you should also pay attention to is the filling and functionality of the device. Fakes differ from real ones in every possible way. Some things you can easily check:
- Displays. The easiest way to "see" a fake is to turn on the display. Most often, pixels are visible on them, and the colors do not look quite natural. The fake displays are terrible - with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, instead of the promised 1280x800 on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 and the supposed 2560x1600 for the Note 10.1 SM-P600. Not to mention the color reproduction and matrix.
- Battery. If during the 5-minute presentation of the tablet, the battery charge drops by more than 1-2%, then this is most likely not the original. The battery of fakes sits down quite quickly, literally in half an hour. In our test of two fake Samsungs, the batteries lost 10% of their charge in 5-7 minutes! Moreover, when charging from the mains, the charger from the kit began to whistle and crackle.
- Processor. The fakes use ultra-cheap processors from Allwinner (the AnTuTu benchmark identified our tablets as Allwinner-Tablet N8000 and Allwinner-Tablet SM-P600). The processors of this company are very cheap: for example, the "more expensive" Allwinner A33 processor can be bought for $ 4 - you can imagine how much the Allwinner A23 used in these tablets costs.
Benchmarks showed that both devices are weaker than Samsung's flagship smartphone from two years ago - Samsung Galaxy S3: one was rated half as weak, the other about a quarter. Allwinner SM-P600 has almost half a gigabyte random access memory, which is why it turned out to be stronger, but Allwinner N8000 has only a quarter of GB! Basically, the first Apple iPad had the same amount of RAM, and it sold well, only it was already 4 years ago.

- Cameras. They are very easy to check. To do this, you need to go to the camera settings and see the maximum photo resolution. If you see that the resolution is small, then this is definitely a fake. Both fakes that got into the Product-test turned out to have two cameras, both at 0.3 MP!
- GPS receiver. Go to settings and see if you can enable GPS and if there are any settings for it. Or try downloading any GPS test app like GPS Test. If there is no GPS, then it will be impossible to download applications and a corresponding message will appear stating that GPS is not supported.
Both "our" fake tablets did not have a GPS receiver. Theoretically, it is possible that there is GPS, but there is no such function in the settings, and it is not detected by any navigation programs. True, this is almost unbelievable and is tantamount to their absence for most users.
- If the seller (or documentation) claims that the tablet is equipped with a modem, then it must also have an IMEI number. If you could not find it, then ask your seller to do it for you. If a tablet equipped with an IMEI modem does not have a number, then most likely you have a fake in your hands.
— Interface. Original Samsung tablets use a proprietary touchwiz interface. You can distinguish by eye if you have ever seen a “naked” Android and once held a real Samsung tablet in your hands.

- Instructions for the tablet. You just have to look at it and read a little. In our case, the instructions for both tablets were full of typos (!), the same screenshots from “pure” Android, black and white pictures, an unpresentable font, which is simply incredible for the instructions for a real device from Samsung, which has numbers in the check in the range 17- 20 thousand rubles.
- Stylus. The "trick" of the Galaxy Note series tablets is the stylus in the kit, which the fakes did not have. It is easy to check - you only need to look at the case.
- Counterfeits cannot be recognized using original programs such as Samsung Kies 3, which is completely unsurprising. Unfortunately, in the field, it will be problematic to check in this way.
- Diagonal display. If there is a ruler or a good eye, deception can be recognized in this way. The diagonal of both fakes does not exceed 9 inches, instead of the prescribed 10.1 inches.
- Built-in memory. Memory can be checked in the tablet settings, but it is more reliable to connect to a computer and see how much memory is available. Instead of the promised 64 GB of internal memory, one tablet turned out to be 16 GB, the other 4 GB of memory.
Distinguish fake with manufacturer support
We contacted Samsung's support chat, but there we were "sent" to law enforcement agencies. Then we called Samsung support at 8-800-555-55-55. There we were told that when buying goods from hand, a person can turn to them and they will instruct him on how to distinguish the original tablet from the fake one by settings. We were also told that fakes differ from the originals in almost everything: from the interface to the types of SIM cards (the latter is not relevant in our case, since the fakes simply did not have a slot for SIM cards). As a rule, each major manufacturer has its own hotline support services that can be contacted for assistance in such cases.
The considered fakes, of course, are two special cases and do not claim to be general. Counterfeits can be different, improved, like fake checks, become more like real ones. In this case, the easiest way would be to recognize a fake by an incorrect cash receipt (without the full name of the product and its serial number), low display resolution, the presence of a DC power socket, incorrect camera placement and low photo resolution, and finally, simply because of the small size of the tablets. Well, the most main advice, which will allow you to avoid problems - do not buy tablets from your hands, no matter how positive and honest the "seller" may seem! Remember: free cheese is only in a mousetrap.

The phone rang about a week ago. A friend called me and told me that he was offered to buy a new tablet for only $ 250. Later, I attributed all the problems to a dead battery, turned off the tablet and left it to charge.
When my friend returned for a tablet, he asked me to throw him a couple of films and imagine my surprise when instead of 64 gigabytes my computer recognized only 2.

I decided that N8000 tablet is missing drivers. There was indeed an unrecognized device labeled "Android" in device manager.

I'm sitting at a dead end - I don't understand what this tablet needs, what it lacks. In general, I spent about 2-3 more hours with him before I began to think that he might even turn out to be a banal fake.
I visited the legendary portal about mobile devices w3bsit3-dns.com, looking for useful information i tried to update operating system tablet, tried to reflash it and eventually even did ( full reset), but never received any results.
The next day I called another friend who also computer technology and tried to find out if he faced a similar problem. It turned out that stacked and sent me in the right direction. He said it was fake.
How to distinguish a real tablet from a fake?
For a while, I searched the Internet for any related information on how to distinguish a real tablet from a fake, in particular, how to identify a fake in the Samsung Galaxy Note N8000.1.

I’m sure if you dig deeper on the Internet, you can find many more ways by which you can identify a fake, however, in this case, for me, the very fact of the distribution of such tablets has become a kind of discovery.Okay, here my friend bought a tablet directly from his hands on the street, but it turns out that there have been cases when such models were quietly “sold” to customers in fairly reputable stores like Svyaznoy. Where is the world heading?
And yes, by the way, after realizing and accepting the fact that the purchased Samsung Galaxy Note N8000 64Gb tablet turned out to be a fake, I again asked my friend to show the warranty card and receipt from the store.
At first glance, everything is as it should be, the amount matches on all documents, the check attached with a stapler to the warranty card, the seal, as is usually done in stores, is superimposed on the corner - everything is according to the rules. But if you take a closer look, it turns out that for some reason the booklet for the tablet comes from Samsung Galaxy TAB and not from Samsung Galaxy Note and the same IMEI code for some reason is not registered at all.
