Digital television in Cheboksary, Cheboksary district, Chuvash Republic. When will analogue television broadcasting be turned off in Chuvashia? Digital terrestrial television in Chuvashia today

Until 2010, almost half of Russian residents (44%) could receive no more than four TV channels. At the same time, the possibilities for the development of analogue broadcasting were exhausted. Thanks to the introduction of digital broadcasting technologies, by the end of 2018, 98.4% of the country’s residents can watch 10 TV channels of the first multiplex for free, and more than 98% of TV viewers can watch 20 channels of the first and second multiplexes.

The package of digital channels RTRS-1 (the first multiplex) includes all-Russian mandatory public TV channels and radio channels. The list of these television and radio channels was determined by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 24, 2009 No. 715 “On all-Russian compulsory public television channels and radio channels” and its subsequent editions: Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 17, 2012 No. 456, Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 20, 2013 No. 367 , By Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of July 15, 2015 No. 365. Ten TV channels for broadcast as part of the RTRS-2 package (second multiplex) were selected by the Federal Competition Commission for Television and Radio Broadcasting (December 14, 2012, December 18, 2013 and September 30, 2015). Digital TV channels are broadcast in the DVB-T2 standard.

We remind you that in accordance with the Law “On the Mass Media” as amended on July 13, 2015, television and radio channels that received the right to digital broadcasting using positions in multiplexes throughout the territory Russian Federation, are classified as mandatory public television and radio channels. Mandatory public television and radio channels are subject to distribution in all broadcast media without charging consumers (TV viewers, radio listeners) for the right to view and listen.

What is multiplex in digital television?

Multiplex is a package of digital television channels broadcast by one transmitter. Usually occupies one frequency. In digital terrestrial television, the multiplex includes 10 TV channels.

The federal program provides for digital television coverage of the entire territory of Russia by 2015. Today, many areas of our country can enjoy high-definition television in HD format. But this pleasure is not available to everyone (everyone can watch it, but not everyone sees it))).

How to find out if there is DVB T2 coverage in your area

Very simple! To do this, go to the official website of the federal project, to the “Network coverage map” section. You get an interactive map where you can find your location or the nearest town by entering them in the search bar and selecting from the drop-down tips:

At first glance, nothing complicated, but also there are some nuances here ( did it on my knee and didn’t explain how to use it ) . Let's pay attention to the upper right corner of the digital TV map and see what's there.

By default, the " Broadcasting points"- essentially these are TV towers that broadcast in DVB T2 format, and RTRS-1 TV channel package. These are the first ten information channels digital television. To see if you are in the broadcast zone of a TV tower, check the “Broadcast zones” box, as well as “TVC, frequency”, the map will be painted in cheerful colors:

“Green” towers are working. Here is the frequency and channel number on which the signal is transmitted

If your area is colored, and there is a “green” tower nearby, then everything is probably fine. At least you will definitely catch the first ten channels. The frequency of the towers will be useful to you when, so remember it, or better yet, write it down, as well as the number of the channel on which your “digital” broadcasts.

But that's not all.

The fact is that the first and second multiplex are transmitted by different towers and at different frequencies.

This means that, for example, the first ten channels may already be working for you, but the second ten – the tower is still being built and this often happens. It’s easy to check this, go to the “RTRS-2 channel package” tab:

The second multiplex - as we see, there are much fewer “green” towers

They will show us the towers again, but most likely, not all of them will be green, as in the first case. Since the first towers were built for the first multiplex, they have already been built a long time ago and are broadcasting the first ten channels. But with the second multiplex it’s worse. However, if there are no “green” towers near you, do not despair, click on the gray ones, there will be information about the stage of construction and approximate commissioning.

From personal experience I’ll say that my mother’s first multiplex in the region arrives from the tower 10 km away, but the second one comes from the neighboring region, 45 km from her house. True, an external “dryer” antenna is used here, with an amplifier, on a high pole. Naturally, without an amplifier it does not catch anything.

We get detailed information on the tower. At least it's already built, which means it's launching soon!

At times they skip friezes" However, judging by the map, a tower with a second multiplex is being built nearby, so everything will be great soon.

Residents of Chuvashia are increasingly turning to the editor with the question of how the transition to digital analog television will take place. We learned about this from the Minister of Digital Development, Information Policy and Mass Communications of Chuvashia, Mikhail Anisimov.

Mikhail Vladimirovich, will all residents of the republic have access to a digital signal?

In Chuvashia, the RTRS branch “RTPC of the Chuvash Republic” is engaged in the construction and operation of a digital terrestrial television network. In total, 42 digital terrestrial television broadcasting facilities were built and put into operation: digital signal Almost the entire territory of Chuvashia is covered.

Today, residents of the republic can watch digital terrestrial television for free. Digital terrestrial television includes 2 multiplexes (package of TV channels). The signal from the first multiplex can be received in almost all settlements of Chuvashia. Broadcasting of the second multiplex was launched in Cheboksary and Novocheboksarsk, Alatyrsky, Batyrevsky, Poretsky, Shemurshinsky districts. By the end of 2018, this package of TV channels will be available everywhere. Wherever the TV viewer is - in the city or outback - there will always be a high-quality picture on TV screens.

There are also territories in Chuvashia that are not included in the broadcast zone of digital terrestrial television. There are 83 such settlements, with a population of about 8,000 people. In the near future we plan to sign an agreement with satellite TV operators so that residents of these villages and hamlets can receive equipment at a discount, and watch 20 TV channels for free.

Will additional equipment be required?

All modern TVs accept digital signals. It is enough to check in the instructions whether the equipment supports the DVB-T2 standard and buy a UHF antenna. If the TV is old (manufactured before 2013), you will also need a TV digital set-top box. Although there is no shortage of equipment in the republic’s stores, I advise you not to put off this issue until the last day.

When will analogue television be turned off in Chuvashia?

The shutdown will begin on April 15, 2019. After disconnecting analog signal A special information message will be broadcast on analogue TV screens. By this time we plan to solve a number of important problems. First of all, to help socially vulnerable categories of citizens for whom receiving equipment is beyond their means. Now, together with the authorities, we are developing a regulatory document that will regulate the distribution of compensation for the purchase of digital set-top boxes and antennas.

Where can I learn more about digital television?

You can learn more about digital television and connection methods on the website smotritsitru.rf, the official website of the Ministry of Information Policy of Chuvashia, or by calling toll-free hotline 8-800-220-20-02. Also in the RTRS branch “RTPC of the Chuvash Republic” there is a “Consulting Support Center” at the address: Cheboksary, st. Nikolaeva, 10A. Here everyone can get all the detailed information for free.

I would like to note that all possible problematic issues have now been taken into account to make the transition to digital terrestrial television as comfortable as possible for all citizens.

Specialists from the Chuvash Radio and Television Center turned on the remaining transmitters of the second multiplex, located in various parts of the republic. Thus, the digital television network was fully operational in Chuvashia. Now more than 99% of the region’s residents can watch 20 TV channels for free in modern quality.

Work on the transition to digital television broadcasting was carried out within the framework of the federal target program. Since 2013, RTRS branch specialists have commissioned 42 broadcasting facilities. Transmitters are installed on television towers to broadcast the first and second multiplexes. Each of them includes 10 TV channels.

Previously, many residents of Chuvashia, especially in rural areas, could receive no more than two or three TV channels. Thanks to the project, everyone has the opportunity to watch 20 TV channels for free in a new, modern quality. In terms of volume, this is comparable to what is currently offered only in paid packages. A unified information standard has equalized access to information for residents of large cities and small settlements, including remote and hard-to-reach ones.

When switching to digital, viewers, as before, will be able to watch news and programs of the Chuvashia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. Regional inserts are broadcast on the TV channels “Russia 1”, “Russia 24” and on the air of the radio station “Radio Russia”.

From April 15, 2019, Chuvashia will completely switch to digital technologies - analogue broadcasting will be turned off. Regional TV channels and TV channels that are not part of multiplexes will continue to broadcast in analogue.

The main advantages of digital terrestrial television are high quality image and sound, multi-channel, easy setup of receiving equipment, lack of subscription fee. Most modern TVs are completely ready to receive digital terrestrial TV channels. You just need to connect an indoor or outdoor UHF antenna to them. If the TV is old, then in addition to it you will also need a digital set-top box.

The second digital TV multiplex was launched in Chuvashia

The shutdown of analogue TV in Russia has been postponed for two weeks. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation Alexey Volin. Previously, we recall that the process of transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting was planned to begin on January 1, 2019.

And no monthly fee

“I want to immediately console the sluggish citizens who will not purchase digital set-top boxes and new television receivers capable of broadcasting digital television before the New Year,” Volin noted in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper. - For them, we are extending the process of turning off analogue broadcasting of federal channels until January 14–15. People definitely have time to purchase the necessary equipment before the “analog” shutdown. The cheapest digital set-top box today costs less than a block cigarettes - 700–800 rubles.”

NUMBER
The digital terrestrial television broadcasting network built in Chuvashia includes 42 communication facilities.

Volin also emphasized that there will be no subscription fee for digital TV. “The task of digital terrestrial television,” he said, “is to give every citizen of Russia anywhere in the country the opportunity to watch 20 television channels of the first and second multiplexes for free. The average person never watches more than six channels constantly, no matter how many they have. The 20 channels that make up the first and second multiplex, the free information standard of the Russian Federation, are the channels that people choose in 90% of cases, and a couple of narrowly themed ones are usually added to them. Everyone can find television to suit their taste.”

According to Alexey Volin, a recent sociological study conducted in all regions of the Russian Federation showed that today less than 10% of citizens live outside of digital television, and in a number of regions there are only 2-3%. In small towns and villages with a population of less than 100 thousand people, most residents today are able to receive only 10 digital television channels, but by the end of the year a second multiplex will be turned on throughout the country, so all viewers will be able to receive 20 high-quality television channels for free.

Ten plus ten

Well, how are things going in Chuvashia? Currently, the republic has launched broadcasting of the first multiplex, which includes 10 TV channels in a modern digital quality, reported by the Ministry of Digital Development, Information Policy and Mass Communications of the region. The signal covers 99% of the republic's population. Local news and programs from State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Chuvashia" are also available in the first multiplex. Today, another 10 TV channels of the second multiplex can only be watched in large cities - Cheboksary and Novocheboksarsk, as well as their surroundings and nearby settlements. But by the end of 2018, this signal can be received in the remaining territory of the republic.

BY THE WAY
List of digital terrestrial television channels: FIRST MULTIPLEX - Channel One, Russia 1, Match TV, NTV, St. Petersburg-5 channel, Russia-Culture, Russia-24, Karusel, OTR, TV Center; SECOND MULTIPLEX - REN TV, SPAS, STS, Domashny, TV 3, Friday, Zvezda, MIR, TNT, Muz-TV.

Let us clarify that TV viewers who have connected to paid cable TV (in Cheboksary, for example, these are the majority) will not be affected by the shutdown of analogue broadcasting. To receive terrestrial digital TV, a TV with a built-in DVB-T2 module and an antenna - individual or shared for a house or entrance - are sufficient. But for TVs without a built-in DVB-T2 module, you will need to purchase a digital set-top box.

The issue of transition from “analogue” to “digital”, experts note, is relevant mainly for regional centers and villages. However, in the outback they found another option - a satellite TV dish over an old log house in villages is no longer uncommon.
